Abstract

This article aims to analyze the origin and theological-ideological function of the resurrection theology in Daniel 12:1–13. This study employs a qualitative library research design, using an exegetical analysis of Daniel 12:1–13 through the lens of Ideological Criticism. The primary issue examined is how this apocalyptic narrative serves as an instrument of resistance against the political-religious hegemony of the Seleucid Dynasty. The study finds that the concept of resurrection was produced by the Maskilim (the wise) not merely as an eschatological dogma, but as a leadership strategy to empower the resilience of the oppressed Jewish community. Leaders acted as agents of intellectual liberation, deconstructing the rulers' seemingly absolute ideology. Contextually, this retroactive eschatological idea urges contemporary congregational leaders to become modern Maskilim who are capable of articulating a theology of hope, especially in the midst of any structural power dynamics that appear absolute.
